Friendswood was founded in 1895 and its name is derived by members of the Religious Society of Friends(Quakers). Today Friendswood is the center for the headquarters for the Quaker Society. Students in Friendswood attend schools in either Friendswood Independent School District or Clear Creek Independent School District. As of the 2000 census there were close to 30,000 people and close to 10,000 household residing in the city.
